If you want to learn to surf and need some space than Saunton Sands welcomes you. Two and a half miles of sandy beach breaks sheltered from northerly winds will guarantee space for all. Saunton provides its children with some nice long mellow waves which are excellent for beginners and longboarders alike. Please note that this beach is also very popular with wind surfers, kite surfers and kayakers.
From Barnstaple follow A361 to Braunton from where you will need to get on the B3231. As you start climbing the hill, you will see the beach. Watch out for a small sign for the beach and the car park (pay) in front of it.
