:: WOOLACOMBE BEACH ::

Very popular NW facing beach break with beginners and longboarders. Works well at all tide stages with E/SE winds being offshore. Two miles long with peaks arranged along its length. Can get crowded at the northern (Woolacombe) end in the summer months, but walk towards Putsborough end will help shake off the crowds.
At the far northern end is Barricane, a beach break that only works from low to mid tide, as it gets covered and cut off by the rocks at the high tide. Not suitable for beginners, as some local knowledge is needed for this one.

From south, use B3231 from Braunton and through Croyde and than follow signs to Woolacombe.
For an alternative route away from coast, use A361 (Braunton-Ilfracombe) until you come across B3343 which will take you straight to Woolacombe. Plenty of car parking facilities, most of which carry charges.

-
High season: Lifeguards, surf schools, beach bars.
-
All year: Toilets, surf shops with surf hire, restaurants, bars, pubs.
